Crab Cakes and Lacrosse, That’s What Maryland Does!

Crabcakes and Lacrosse, that’s what Maryland does. A saying that everyone, no matter where you’re from, can feel once you cross the state lines. It is only natural that the NCAA Lacrosse Championship would be a big hit and attract an abundance of fans.

These fanatics poured in from all across the country to watch their beloved teams compete for the title of 2011 National Champion. Even before the games began, school spirit could be seen for miles across the parking lots of tailgaters and intertwined throughout the whole stadium.

Weekend Wrap Up: Columbia Invitational

Another successful year of the Columbia Invitational Soccer Tournament wrapped up in and around Columbia yesterday.  Thousands of soccer players and their families invaded the friendly confines of Howard County this past weekend for one of the premier soccer tournaments in the country put on by Maryland’s own Elite Tournaments.  The tournament hosted 462 teams from 18 different states and Canada over the course of the four-day tournament, and OSM stopped by to check out the games and festivities.

Warning, Warning, Invasion Imminent

M&T Bank Stadium is officially ready for the 2011 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship starting tomorrow- the field is lined, locker rooms prepped, vendors stocked and fan fest area ready to roll! All that is left to do is officially kick of the weekend with a prep rally and opening ceremonies!!

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor ready for the next level

Tonight, the Greater Baltimore Committee unveiled their dramatic new plans for Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and surrounding area that will “take the Inner Harbor to the next level” according to President and CEO Don Fry- and trust us, once you take a look at the plans, you WILL agree!

Growing the Game…from East to West to East Again!

The stage is finally set for the 2011 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships this weekend- a fact confirmed upon invading M&T Bank Stadium Monday afternoon to find the purple and gold of the city’s favorite bird covered in preparation for the tournament (plus head NCAA lax officials have invaded the stadium ops’ conference room, which is kind of like a warning siren signally an invasion– no offense Jeff and company, I mean we NEED the warning). How Maryland Does Horse Racing- 136th Preakness Stakes

136th Running of the Preakness Stakes

 It came and went in a flash! The 136th running of the Preakness Stakes at  Pimlico in Baltimore, was finally upon us and everyone’s eyes were on Animal  Kingdom, winner of the Kentucky Derby.

My trek to the Preakness started off with a beautiful 70 degree morning, clear  blue skies and not a chance of rain. This day would be one that will never be  forgotten.

Getting into Pimlico was a breeze, the staff made sure to keep the lines moving.  The first sight we came to was a man selling the coveted and delightful Black-  Eyed Susan drink in a collectable Preakness glass. So naturally, as any other  first timers, we had to have that glass! As we made a toast to our first  Preakness, a friendly lady came up fervently wanting to join in the circle. She could not contain her excitement finding out that it was our first Preakness, and she made sure to give us the best advice she could since she was a veteran, coming to Preakness since 1986.
