Let the Madness Begin!
In Under Armour’s most recent, Under the Armour episode, Brandon Jennings, the starting point guard for the Milwaukee Bucks emphatically said, “The harder you work when nobody is watching, the less you bleed when you go out there and perform.” A sports season can reveal a person character, span a lifetime of emotions- the highest highs and the lowest lows- but in the end; when tournament time rolls around, no matter what sport he/she plays, the team who works the hardest and overcomes those lows walks out on top. Under Armour All-Star America Weekend
It was a weekend for All Stars at Towson University on this 4th of July weekend. For the past 5 years, Under Armour has hosted a tournament for the top 44 senior boys and girls to showcase their talents, in the Under Armour All America Lacrosse Games. These All-Stars were chosen by a selection committee made up of the nation’s most knowledgeable figures in high school lacrosse, as well as members of Inside Lacrosse.
The University of Maryland Men’s program had the honor of having 6 incoming recruits participate in the showcase, while the Women’s programs at Duke, Florida and Maryland each had 4.

Between the selections for the All-America series to be played this July at Unitas Stadium, the introduction of new lacrosse-specific equipment to the product line, the presence of Terp men and women in the NCAA finals and as the presenting sponsor of the Nationwide Tour’s Melwood Prince George’s County Open, the familiar entwined “UA” has constantly been in front of us.
Shades of Maryland Red
Marylanders – especially the Terp variety – consider the vivid crimson on the Crossland quadrant of our state flag the true Maryland red.
Students of historic preservation interpret Maryland red as burnt sienna, like the brick masonry that defines many classic structures throughout the state. (Shout out to Camden Yards here.)
But there are a few other shades of red identified with Maryland sports worth noting now — because you’re going to be hearing a lot more about them in coming months.
